"That's when it really started. In Davis Cup it was painful, but I really wanted to play, so I forced it."

In 2002, Gasquet made his ATP debut at Monte Carlo as a 15-year-old after receiving a wildcard into qualifying. Three years later, he pulled off a memorable upset of Roger Federer in the quarterfinals. "It is very important for us to have the right to choose. I really mean it... If I had an opportunity to choose what I wanted to do in childhood, I wouldn't have gone for tennis. It's something new with all these animations and all these monsters attacking tennis players. You know, it's good. I think it's good for the sport because tennis needs it."

The TickerGael Monfils, who lost 6-3, 6-1 to Janko Tipsarevic in Monte Carlo, is struggling with tendinitis in both knees.
